2010EXPO

World Expositions are galleries of human inspirations and thoughts. Since 1851 when the Great Exhibition of Industries of All Nations was held in London, the World Expositions have attained increasing prominence as grand events for economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges, serving as an important platform for displaying historical experience, exchanging innovative ideas, demonstrating esprit de corps and looking to the future.
With a long civilisation, China favours international exchange and loves world peace. China owes its successful bid for the World Exposition in 2010 to the international community's support for and confidence in its reform and opening-up. The Exposition will be the first registered World Exposition in a developing country, which gives expression to the expectations the world's people place on China's future development.
Expo 2010 Shanghai China will be a great event to explore the full potential of urban life in the 21st century and a significant period in urban evolution. Fifty-five percent of the world population is expected to live in cities by the year 2010. The prospect of future urban life, a subject of global interest, concerns all nations, developed or less developed, and their people. Being the first World Exposition on the theme of city, Exposition 2010 will attract governments and people from across the world, focusing on the theme "Better City, Better Life."
What are you waiting for? Come to Shanghai to know different cultures and enjoy the wonderful event wich you can travel around the world without visas.

Hi everybody!
I'm duygu and i'm from Turkey. I wanna give some information about my country. Turkey is developing very fast. Yes,there are some problems but i belive they'll be solved in the future. I wanna offer you Turkey for holiday. If you wanna spend your time for summer holiday i can offer you west and south of the turkey because there are lots of brilliant beaches and also hotels. If you wanna visit historical places, offering can be difficult. because every city has got special history in Turkey. But I can say Istanbul is the best city to visit turkey. Istanbul's a complicate city. You can see lots of diffirent cultures there. If you prefer istanbul, you will have a chance to see bosphorus. It's great. You can have a summer holiday with smiling sun,you can visit lots of historical places. But i should say istanbul has got traffic problem. although you should see it. If you visit and like it, we'll be pleased:):):)
The Football World Cup will take place in Brazil at 2014. Twelve cities will be receiving matches of the competition. It`s is the first time that more than 10 cities will be participating of the event. The head organizer says that it is because of the big country extension, but some people attest that the real reason for this is a political deal involving the public money that will be liberate for these cities. This money is supposed to be used to improve the infrastructure necessary for the competition. Unfortunately, in Brazil, like here in England ( according with I read at the newspapers here), we can`t trust in the politicians.
In spite of these problens, Brazil will always be a wonderfull country. You should all go there when you have the opportunity!

The ‘greenest’ development in Turkey coming up in Istanbul

The VARYAP Meridian Project, which was unveiled in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, recently has been described as Turkey’s “most green” development. A mixed-use, super-development which will house Istanbul’s new financial and business district, the project is located the Atasehir district.
It’s been designed by RMJM, based in New York and Istanbul and is considered by many as a model for future green development. The VARYAP Meridian Project has been designed as per LEED standards and after “carefully analysing” the site to take advantage of the surrounding topography, context and climate, according to the developers.
The project is a 60-storey tower comprising 1,500 residential units, a 5-star hotel, offices, conference facilities as well as landscaped public areas and parking spaces.
The residential part of the VARYAP Meridian Project will have an array of options ranging from posh 5-bedroom penthouse apartments to small studio apartments. It indends to serve 20,000 people, should to cost $1 billion and scheduled to be completed in 2011.
The special features of the green project include several sustainable factors such as sites for collecting rainwater, facilities to optimise water usage and cut energy consumption, cooling water pools that add to the external landscape, wind-turbines, as well as a co-generation plant that will generate electricity for the developmen

Hongdae Club Day
Back in 2001, a monthly event started in Hongdae, ( Hongdae means Hongik University, which is well known for its Art department. In the 1980s, there were pockets of pubs, small restaurants, used-book stores, art supply stores and art institutions. However, since the 90s, the place has boomed with eclectic restaurants, unique cafes, a dazzling nightlife, and a rowdy underground.), called Hongdae Club Day. On the last Friday of every month, thousands pack the streets and clubs and pay a 20,000-won(about 10-pounds) payment which grants you admission to even ten Hongdae-area clubs. But get your tickets early, as there is a limit.

Hi everybody!
I am from Turkey. The different cultures meet in my country. It is like a bridge beetween Europe and Asia. But people respect each other, I mean their religion, traditional, life style..etc. When you come Turkey, you can see different type of the life. Also it is important which part of Turkey you come. west of Turkey is more modern than east part.In last years, most of things were changed and even is changing. It's life is following Europe. In the future, I think turkey will be one of the leader country in the world.

hi everybody!
I came from Turkey and I live in Istanbul. Istanbul is a big city in Turkey. and every year population increase a lot. so I think in next 10 years, Istanbul will have lots of long apartments. and I think they will build new bridges for transport.
every year lots of student emigrate to Istanbul for university education. then anybody don't want to come back in their city. Generally, they rent a house. but find a rent house is become difficult. so their taxes are become expensive. if you buy a house in Istanbul, you would have much more benefit. if this event continue like this, Istanbul will be most expensive city in Turkey.
